Submission Guidelines & Rules

OpenTosh is committed to providing a high-quality directory of Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS) for macOS. Please read these rules before submitting an application.

1. Must be genuinely Open-Source

We only accept applications distributed under a FOSS license recognized by the Open Source Initiative (OSI) or Free Software Foundation (FSF). This includes MIT, GPL, Apache 2.0, BSD, Mozilla Public License, etc. Proprietary software, even if freeware, is not accepted.

2. Native or High-Quality macOS Support

The application must have native binary support or run perfectly on macOS (Intel and/or Apple Silicon). Cross-platform GUI tools (Electron, Tauri, Qt, Java) are welcome if they offer a smooth, standard user experience on macOS.

3. Clean, Safe, and Respectful

The codebase must not contain telemetry, adware, spyware, bundleware, or hidden tracking scripts. Respecting user privacy is a core pillar of OpenTosh.

4. Public Code Repository

Submissions must include a link to the public source code repository (e.g. GitHub, GitLab, Codeberg). The repository must be active and not archived.
